Providing Evidence
You must provide supporting documents if any of the following apply:
- You have undertaken tertiary study at an overseas institution (including exchange or study abroad), or at an Australian university that does not use the Automated Results Transfer Service (ARTS)
- Your studies were completed in a language other than English (you must provide an official NAATI-certified translation with your original transcript)
- You need to demonstrate that you meet English language requirements
- You have claimed a rural background, see Rurality, First Nations peoples and Other Bonuses webpage for details.
- You are applying for a Deakin adjustment
- A medical school requires additional documentation
- You have completed study at diploma level or below that contributed to a bachelor degree or higher qualification
Document requirements and format
All documents must meet specific format and security requirements to be accepted and processed.
This includes requirements for:
- Digitally certified academic documents (e.g. My eQuals)
- Scanned hardcopy documents
- Translations of non-English documents
- Institution-specific submission rules

When you do not need to provide documents
You do not need to provide documentation if:
- Your results are available through ARTS (GEMSAS does not accept additional transcripts or statements for these studies)
- You applied through GEMSAS in the last two years and your education history has not changed
- You previously applied for a Deakin adjustment (in 2023-2025), submitted documentation, and were deemed eligible
After you submit your application
Once you have submitted and paid for your application:
- Check the Documentation section in your GEMSAS account for a list of required documents
- Follow the instructions on your documentation coversheet to submit your documents correctly
If additional information is required, GEMSAS will contact you directly.
