GEMSAS applicants are required to provide documents if:

  • You’ve undertaken tertiary studies at any time at an overseas institution (including on exchange or study abroad programs) or at an Australian university that does not use the Automated Results Transfer Service (ARTS)
  • You've undertaken tertiary studies in a language other than English. In these cases, your original academic transcript must be accompanied by an official translation by a NAATI translator (featuring the translator’s original stamp and signature on every page). See the Academic Document Submission Guidelines for instructions on supplying digital translation documents (which feature a digitally inserted stamp or QR code)
  • You need to provide evidence of having met the English Language Competency requirement
  • You’ve indicated in your GEMSAS application you have an Australian rural background (see the Rural Schemes section)
  • You’ve indicated in your GEMSAS application that you are applying for a Deakin Bonus
  • Required by the individual Medical Schools you’re applying to via GEMSAS
  • You completed any study at a Diploma level or below that contributed to a Bachelor level or higher qualification

You are not required to provide documentation:

  • For studies undertaken at an Australian university that uses the Automated Results Transfer Service (ARTS). Please note that GEMSAS does not accept transcripts or statements intended to clarify study for which results are provided via ARTS
  • If there has been no change to your education history and you applied through GEMSAS within the last two years
  • If you applied for a Deakin bonus in 2023, 2024 or 2025, provided documentation and were deemed eligible
