About Us
Welcome to GEMSAS.
GEMSAS is the Graduate Entry Medical School Admissions System, an applicant service initiated by GEMPASS Australia Ltd.
Via GEMSAS, each selection cycle, domestic applicants can submit one application that enables them to be considered for entry into up to 6 graduate-entry medicine courses at the 10 participating Australian Medical Schools. As part of their GEMSAS application, applicants indicate the order in which they want to be considered for the courses they’ve selected (i.e, preferenced), and the types of places they’re willing to accept if offered (e.g., Commonwealth Supported Place; Bonded Medical Place; full-fee).
GEMSAS checks applicants have met course entry eligibility requirements. For eligible applicants. It also:
- Calculates a GPA for each course the applicant has selected (i.e., preferenced).
- Develops a course rank that reflects each Medical School’s selection rules. This varies by Medical School and can include a combination of Grade Point Averages (GPAs), Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) results, interview scores, and other selection criteria such as bonuses. Medical Schools use the ranked list to decide which applicants they invite to interview, and who receives course place offer.
Applicants need to be invited to an interview to be considered for a course place offer. Applicants only need to attend one interview: the interview score is standardised and used by other Medical Schools the applicant preferenced in their GEMSAS application.
This website provides comprehensive information about GEMSAS’ key dates, application procedures and policies, and each of the participating Medical School’s courses and selection arrangements.
